## Addressing Post-Harvest Losses and Food System Efficiency

Rwanda’s expanding agricultural and food processing industries face structural bottlenecks due to a deficit of modern cold-chain infrastructure and refrigerated transport. Across Sub-Saharan Africa, post-harvest produce losses range between 40% and 60%, largely stemming from inadequate temperature-controlled storage and fragmented logistics along the supply chain.

The new Kigali facility addresses these systemic gaps by delivering an integrated solution that combines cold storage, packhouse operations, crop handling, and refrigerated logistics services. Beyond agricultural produce, such as export-oriented avocado processing, the facility provides specialized storage tailored for temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical products. By reducing food waste, the infrastructure also mitigates greenhouse gas emissions linked to organic waste decay.
