**JOHANNESBURG** — [Airnergize Capital](https://www.linkedin.com/company/airnergize-capital/?ref=africainvestorreview.com), the clean technology investment platform of South Africa’s New GX Capital, has officially closed its debut Fund I at R3.89 billion (approximately USD 239.7 million).

The milestone vehicle features a blended finance architecture, pairing state development finance capital with South Africa's premier commercial banking balance sheets.

The [Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA)](https://www.dbsa.org/?ref=africainvestorreview.com) acted as the lead development finance institution (DFI), committing an initial R240 million following rigorous institutional due diligence.

The wider syndicate brings together prominent commercial institutional investors and banking balance sheets, including [RMB Ventures](https://www.rmbventures.co.za/?ref=africainvestorreview.com), [Standard Bank](https://www.standardbank.co.za/southafrica/personal?ref=africainvestorreview.com), [Nedbank](https://personal.nedbank.co.za/home.html?ref=africainvestorreview.com), [New GX Capital](https://newgx.co.za/?ref=africainvestorreview.com) (as parent entity and investor).

Initial capital deployment focuses on commercial and industrial (C&I) solar photovoltaic and energy storage assets across South Africa, sub-Saharan Africa, and the Indian Ocean islands. The platform's broader expansion pipeline extends into utility-scale power generation, transmission-related infrastructure, water utilities, and gas distribution networks.
