NAIROBI — Amethis has announced its strategic investment in Zamara Holdings Limited, a leading insurance broker, pension fund administrator, and provider of actuarial services operating across Africa.

Originally established in 1994 and headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, Zamara has grown into an independent, home-grown African financial services group providing pensions consulting and administration, insurance brokerage, reinsurance brokerage, and actuarial services to corporate, institutional, and individual clients. Today, the Group serves more than 3,700 insurance clients and over 190 actuarial clients across its footprint in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Nigeria, Malawi, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and the United Arab Emirates. Through its offerings, Zamara helps businesses strengthen employee benefits while enabling individuals to secure their retirement, manage financial risks, and improve long-term financial well-being.

Accelerating Regional Expansion and Digital Transformation

This partnership marks a significant milestone in Zamara’s ambition to build the leading regional financial services platform in Africa. With Amethis' backing, the Group plans to deepen strategic partnerships, enhance its client-centric operating model, upgrade digital capabilities, and expand the breadth of its solutions across the continent.

“We were looking for more than capital — we wanted a partner that understands Africa, believes in the potential of our business and our people, and shares our ambition to build a leading pan-African financial services group," noted Sundeep Raichura, Group CEO of Zamara Holdings Limited. "Over the years, our engagement with the Amethis team has demonstrated a strong alignment of values, ambition and long-term vision... What defines Zamara does not change. What Zamara can achieve does.”

A Shared Vision for African Financial Markets

For Amethis, the transaction underscores a deep conviction in Zamara's leadership, purpose, and capacity as a foundational financial services platform. Having cultivated a trusted relationship with the leadership team, Amethis is poised to act as a hands-on partner through its offices in Nairobi and across the continent.

“From our teams in Nairobi and across the continent, Amethis is committed to being a close, hands-on partner in Zamara’s next phase, helping strengthen its capabilities, accelerate innovation, and extend its reach as it continues to power financial freedom for businesses and individuals across Africa,” said Frank-Astère Ndiyo Butoyi, Partner at Amethis.
