Benin’s Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations (CDC Benin) Becomes an Investor in Enko Capital’s SME Strategy
The public financial institution backs Enko Capital’s Francophone West Africa SME Strategy, bolstering regional institutional participation and expanding private equity deployment for high-potential businesses.
COTONOU — Enko Capital has announced that the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations de Bénin (CDC Benin) has officially subscribed as an institutional investor in its Francophone West Africa SME Strategy (the "FCPR Strategy").
The FCPR Strategy (Fonds Commun de Placement à Risques) is an Alternative Investment Fund licensed by the AMF-UMOA in December 2025, dedicated to investing in high-potential small and medium-sized enterprises led by strong entrepreneurial teams across Francophone West Africa.
Strategic Institutional Backing for Regional SMEs
CDC Benin's investment marks a crucial validation of the fund's strategy to finance regional SMEs, signaling a growing appetite among public financial institutions and sovereign bodies within the WAEMU region to utilize private equity as a catalyst for local entrepreneurship and job creation.
"This investment is fully aligned with CDC Benin’s mission, which is to mobilize national savings for the development of our economy," said Maryse Lokossou, Chief Executive Officer of CDC Benin. "By choosing to support the FCPR Strategy, we are contributing to the financing of high-potential Beninese and West African SMEs while diversifying our portfolio in line with our requirements for returns, risk management, and the preservation of the resources entrusted to us."
Enko Capital Group manages approximately $1.6 billion in assets across African markets, maintaining offices in London, Johannesburg, Abidjan, Kigali, Port Louis, and Yaoundé.
"We are delighted to welcome CDC Benin among the investors in the FCPR Strategy," noted Cyrille Nkontchou, Managing Partner of Enko Capital. "The participation of a public financial institution of CDC Benin’s stature is a strong endorsement of the quality of our investment strategy and strengthens our ability to support a greater number of high-potential SMEs across Francophone West Africa."
