JOHANNESBURG — South African electric vehicle (EV) commercial fleet operator Everlectric has completed a successful exit from the Vumela Fund, a small business growth capital vehicle established by FNB Business Banking and SME development manager Edge Growth.

The exit follows the full settlement of a venture debt facility that enabled Everlectric to expand its commercial EV fleet and charging network without diluting equity. Financial terms and facility size were not disclosed.

Non-Dilutive Debt Financing for Commercial Fleet Expansion

Founded in 2020 by Ndia Magadagela, Paul Plummer, and Wesley van der Walt, Everlectric provides an integrated Fleet-as-a-Service (FaaS) model combining fully maintained electric panel vans, charging infrastructure, and fleet management software for logistics and delivery operators.

The non-dilutive venture debt provided non-equity working capital to bridge working capital constraints:

  • Contract Servicing: Allowed Everlectric to execute large-scale corporate enterprise delivery contracts with extended payment cycles.
  • Operational Footprint: Funded fleet deployments across major economic hubs, including the launch of a Cape Town operational hub in late 2025.
  • Hands-on Support: Edge Growth provided post-investment portfolio advisory across financial engineering, corporate market access, and operational scaling.

Next Stage: Larger Institutional Debt Facilities

Following the exit from the Vumela Fund, Everlectric is initiating fundraising for a larger, institutional-grade credit and asset-backed funding facility.

Proceeds from the prospective debt package will fund primary commercial EV fleet expansion, build out dedicated fast-charging depot infrastructure across South Africa, and scale fleet management software capabilities to support last-mile logistics transition away from internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles.
