CAIRO — Egyptian climate technology company NoorNation has closed a $1.05 million (~EGP 51.8 million) seed equity funding round.

The round saw strategic participation from Egyptian agricultural conglomerate Linah Farms, alongside venture capital backing from climate-focused fund Catalyst Fund and Saudi Arabia-based KBW Ventures (the investment firm founded by Prince Khaled bin Alwaleed bin Talal).

The transaction marks a commercial-to-equity transition for Linah Farms, which joined NoorNation's cap table following the operational deployment of NoorNation's renewable energy and water solutions across its agricultural and commercial assets.

Product Stack & Commercial Trajectory

Founded in 2021 by Ragy Ramadan and Mohamed Khaled, NoorNation manufactures decentralized, off-grid clean energy and water filtration infrastructure for agribusinesses and rural communities in Egypt and Sub-Saharan Africa:

  • LifeBox Modular Infrastructure: The startup’s flagship product, LifeBox, operates as a fully integrated, containerized solar-powered platform providing off-grid electricity alongside water desalination and pumping for agricultural irrigation.
  • Quantified Operational Savings: Deployments across Linah Farms' operations in Egypt's Bahariya Oasis have generated over EGP 3.0 million (~$60,800) in diesel fuel savings. Additionally, NoorNation’s solar installation at Sultan Gardens Resort in Sharm El Sheikh reduced grid electricity overheads by over EGP 2.2 million (~$44,600).
  • Expanded Capacity Mandate: NoorNation and Linah Group signed a commercial agreement for five additional solar installations totaling 1.13 MWp across Bahariya Oasis and West Minya (spanning solar-powered irrigation and hybrid power stations). This brings the total project capacity delivered and under implementation for Linah Group to 1.71 MWp.

Business Model Expansion: Pay-Per-Use Irrigation

Capital from the seed round will accelerate the commercial deployment of NoorNation’s new pay-per-use (Pay-As-You-Go) solar irrigation model:

  • Target Demographic: Designed specifically for small-to-medium agricultural producers who rely on volatile, expensive diesel-powered water pumps due to high upfront capital costs for solar conversion.
  • Financing Syndicate: Linah Farms will co-finance the capital expenditure for the pay-per-use deployment, extending the partnership into asset financing for smallholder water infrastructure.

Executive Statements

"The solar-powered irrigation system at Linah Farms' Bahariya Oasis operations has generated more than EGP 3 million in diesel savings, while the installation at Sultan Gardens Resort has reduced electricity costs by more than EGP 2.2 million," stated Ragy Ramadan, Founder & CEO of NoorNation.
