## Blended Finance Structure and Capital Allocation

Operating under a public-private co-funding model, the facility pools international development capital with commercial banking resources to de-risk sustainable investments:

- **International Contribution:** The EU and the Netherlands collectively provided **€4.3 million**.
- **Commercial Contribution:** Fidelity Bank Ghana injected **€2.368 million**, aligning institutional banking operations with climate-smart development goals.

The GIF forms a core component of the broader **€17.3 million Green, Digital and Inclusive Private Sector Development (GDI PSD) Project**, a four-year initiative launched in January 2026 with additional backing from the French Embassy. Furthermore, the vehicle operates under the umbrella of the EU’s **Global Gateway** strategy, prioritizing green transition, innovation, and resilient economies.

## Strategic Objectives for Ghanaian Enterprises

The fund targets scalable enterprises seeking to transition toward low-carbon operations and enhance regional export capacity:

- **Green Technology Adoption:** Providing specialized capital to help businesses integrate cleaner technologies, waste recycling, and renewable energy solutions.
- **Market Expansion:** Equipping local businesses to scale operations and compete effectively within domestic markets, the **African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA)**, and European trade corridors.

> "Ghana has no shortage of ideas or entrepreneurs, but the missing link has been financing and support to turn ideas into viable businesses," said [**Rune Skinnebach**](https://www.linkedin.com/in/rune-skinnebach-b058b9108/?ref=africainvestorreview.com), EU Ambassador to Ghana. "The EU believes strongly that the private sector is a driving force for sustainable economic growth."
