UAC of Nigeria Agrees to Sell 73.29% Controlling Stake in Livestock Feeds to Sunbeth for N19.5 Billion ($15 Million)
Diversified conglomerate UAC of Nigeria monetizes its majority position in national feed manufacturer Livestock Feeds, unlocking N19.5 billion ($15 million) in cash to redeploy across core growth operations.
LAGOS — Diversified holding company UAC of Nigeria PLC has entered into a definitive agreement to sell its 73.29% controlling equity interest in Livestock Feeds PLC to Sunbeth Treenuts and Sesame Limited, an entity affiliated with agribusiness group Sunbeth. The all-cash transaction is valued at N19.5 billion (approximately $15 million).
Under the agreed terms, Sunbeth will acquire the controlling block at N8.85 per share. The deal transfers operational control of one of Nigeria’s prominent animal feed producers, subject to customary regulatory approvals.
Strategic Portfolio Rationalization and Capital Redeployment
The sale forms part of UAC’s ongoing portfolio rationalization strategy, aimed at monetizing long-held investments and reallocating capital to core growth sectors. UAC acquired its controlling stake in Livestock Feeds in 2013 and subsequently expanded the enterprise into a national-scale operator. Over its decade-long ownership, UAC oversaw a fivefold growth in revenues and an eighteenfold expansion in profitability.
Converting the equity position into liquid capital provides UAC with balance sheet flexibility to fund organic growth and strategic initiatives across its remaining consumer goods, food, and manufacturing portfolios.
Building an Integrated Domestic Agribusiness Platform
For Sunbeth, the acquisition aligns with a broader strategy to establish an integrated African agribusiness platform that connects local farm origination with domestic processing and distribution. Sunbeth operates across agricultural sourcing, supply chain management, warehousing, and processing.
The transaction allows Sunbeth to integrate its raw material origination and processing capabilities with Livestock Feeds' manufacturing infrastructure, established consumer brands, and distribution footprint, which includes major feed mills in Ikeja, Aba, and Kano serving poultry, aquaculture, and livestock farmers across Nigeria.
Operations and Regulatory Approvals
Following completion, Sunbeth intends to work alongside Livestock Feeds’ existing management team and workforce to optimize supply chain performance and product quality. Transaction execution remains subject to standard regulatory reviews and statutory approvals.
