AHL Venture Partners Hits $45.5 Million Second Close for Africa Credit Fund I Following $15 Million Commitment

The pan-African debt fund has advanced toward its $70 million target, backed by Ceniarth and co-investors, to scale senior secured and mezzanine lending across high-impact sectors.

LONDON / NAIROBI — AHL Venture Partners has successfully secured a $15 million commitment, bringing the second close of the AHL Africa Credit Fund I (ACF) to $45.5 million.

The latest capital injection was led by Ceniarth alongside a co-investor, building upon the fund's $30.5 million first close anchored by the AHL Charitable Foundation and family offices. The vehicle is targeting a total of $70 million ahead of a final close slated for early 2027.

Flexible Financing for High-Growth Enterprises

ACF deploys senior secured loans, mezzanine debt, and bridge facilities ranging from $2 million to $10 million to high-growth, profitable enterprises across East, West, and Southern Africa. By providing flexible structured debt rather than purely dilutive equity, the fund enables scaling businesses to expand their operational footprints while preserving founder and shareholder value.

“This second close reflects growing confidence in our debt strategy and our ability to back profitable, high-impact enterprises across the continent,” noted leadership at AHL Venture Partners regarding the fund's continued momentum.

The fund's investment mandate explicitly prioritizes three pillars essential for long-term continental development:

  • Financial Inclusion: Expanding access to credit and digital financial services for underbanked populations and growing small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs).
  • Climate Action: Supporting renewable energy, resource efficiency, and green technology deployment.
  • Sustainable Food and Agriculture: Backing agribusinesses that enhance food security, supply chain resilience, and sustainable farming practices.

With its sights set on a final close in early 2027, AHL Africa Credit Fund I is well-positioned to bridge the persistent funding gap facing mature, mid-sized businesses driving structural transformation across sub-Saharan Africa.
