JOHANNESBURG & CAPE TOWN — Dual-listed fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) distribution conglomerate CA Sales Holdings Limited (operating as CA&S Group) has acquired an initial 30% strategic shareholding in South African digital marketing and e-commerce agency The Digital Media Collective (TDMC).

While financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, the agreement includes a structured pathway for CA&S Group to transition into a majority owner over a phased multi-year period.

Bridging Physical Retail Distribution and Digital Commerce

Listed on both the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE: CAA) and the Botswana Stock Exchange (BSE: CAS), CA&S Group operates an extensive physical route-to-market network across Southern and East Africa. The group generates more than R12.8 billion ($730 million) in annual revenue, providing warehousing, sales, promotion, and distribution services to leading consumer goods manufacturers across South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Eswatini, and East Africa.

The investment in TDMC is designed to integrate digital marketing and direct-to-consumer e-commerce capability directly into CA&S’s traditional retail distribution channels. By combining TDMC's digital execution capabilities with CA&S's physical distribution footprint, the group aims to offer brand owners an end-to-end service model spanning physical store shelves, online marketplaces, and social commerce platforms.

Operational Autonomy and Regional Scalability

Founded as an independent agency, TDMC specializes in digital strategy, performance marketing, and Shopify e-commerce integration. Under the terms of the transaction, TDMC will maintain its existing leadership team, operational structure, and brand identity, while gaining access to CA&S Group’s regional infrastructure and corporate client portfolio.

The deal highlights a continuing consolidation wave across African trade and distribution networks, where traditional FMCG logistics providers are increasingly acquiring digital capabilities to secure omnichannel distribution pathways across high-growth African markets.
