South African private equity heavyweight Capitalworks has secured a $15 million commitment from Proparco to drive mid-market expansion, strengthen ESG standards, and catalyze employment across the region.
JOHANNESBURG — South African alternative asset manager Capitalworks Group has officially secured a $15 million commitment from Proparco, the private-sector financing arm of the French Development Agency (AFD), for its flagship fourth-generation vehicle, Capitalworks IV.
The strategic capital injection is engineered to accelerate operational expansion, enhance rigorous environmental, social, and governance (ESG) frameworks within portfolio companies, and drive localized job creation. According to institutional impact projections, the funding is expected to support over 2,150 positions across South Africa's vibrant mid-market sector.
Targeting high-potential domestic enterprises, Capitalworks IV provides critical growth equity and deep operational support to help mid-sized corporations scale their operations, build long-term resilience, and mobilize additional private liquidity.
