Mediterrania-Backed Técnicas Sanjorge Acquires AgroProtectors
The bolt-on acquisition marks the fifth platform addition under private equity firm Mediterrania Capital Partners, scaling the group’s project revenue toward €45 million as African sales expand to 63% of international volume.
BARCELONA & HUELVA — Técnicas Sanjorge (TSJ), the lead operating platform of the sustainable agricultural solutions group backed by mid-market private equity manager Mediterrania Capital Partners (MCP), has acquired 100% of Barcelona-based crop protection specialist AgroProtectors.
Coinciding with the acquisition, the platform announced the official launch of Grovium, a unified umbrella corporate identity consolidating TSJ and its acquired subsidiaries: Coflor (agricultural substrates and coconut fiber), Requasur Levante (RQA) (irrigation infrastructure and water management), and AgroProtectors.
Revenue Trajectory & African Expansion Footprint
The transaction underscores the rapid international scaling of MCP’s agricultural consolidation strategy:
- Revenue Growth Projection: Group net revenues are projected to expand from €23.0 million (~$24.9 million) in 2023 to €45.0 million (~$48.7 million) by fiscal year 2026.
- International Revenue Share: Cross-border sales have increased from 16% to 36% of total group turnover since MCP’s initial buy-in.
- African Market Dominance: Driven by MCP’s local operational presence across North and Sub-Saharan Africa, Africa now accounts for 63% of total international sales, representing a 3x growth in sales volume on the continent since July 2023.
- Global Distribution Reach: AgroProtectors brings a commercial distribution footprint spanning 21 countries across four continents.
Platform Integration & Product Offering
Grovium operates as an end-to-end turnkey provider for commercial farm operations, ranging from local family farms to large multinational agri-food enterprises:
- Product Range: Integrates high-tech protective crop netting (anti-bird, anti-insect, anti-hail), fruit orchard shade and trellising systems, forestry tree guards, hydroponic cultivation systems, and automated drip irrigation infrastructure.
- Corporate Structure: All underlying operating entities, TSJ, Coflor, RQA, and AgroProtectors, will maintain their distinct commercial trading names while operating under the consolidated Grovium umbrella.
- Advisory Syndicate: One to One Corporate Finance served as financial advisor on the transaction, Mazarsperformed financial due diligence, and Pinsent Masons acted as legal counsel.
