LAGOS — Moneda Investment Limited has successfully closed its inaugural issuance under its ₦30 billion (approx. $18.75 million USD) Commercial Paper Programme, oversubscribing its initial ₦5 billion (approx. $3.125 million USD) target to secure ₦6 billion (approx. $3.75 million USD).

The milestone marks the first time Nigerian institutional investors have backed Moneda on a standalone corporate debt instrument, validating the firm's decade-long operating history and its localized financing model tailored for small businesses operating in frontier markets.

Capital Deployment and Structural Impact

The newly secured capital provides long-term balance sheet stability, extending beyond the duration of individual enterprise investments to allow capital to be recycled multiple times across active portfolios. Funds will be channeled directly into supporting small businesses and local industries across Africa that traditionally face capital constraints.

The transaction was successfully executed with advisory support from key institutional partners, including Mainstreet Capital, CFG Africa, Fortress Solicitors, and Fidelity Bank.

"This is more than a fundraise. It is a vote of confidence," noted the firm in an official statement. "For the first time, Nigerian institutional investors looked closely at Moneda on its own terms: a decade of track record, and a model built to back small businesses in places most capital doesn’t reach."

With Series 1 successfully closed, Moneda plans to scale subsequent tranches under the ₦30 billion programme to deepen its footprint in domestic debt capital markets.
