Proparco Commits €150,000 to Kenyan Agritech Farm to Feed
The 2X-labelled investment aims to accelerate the commercial scale of Farm to Feed’s digital supply-chain platform, reducing agricultural waste and improving farmer yields across Kenya.
NAIROBI — French development finance institution Proparco has invested €150,000 (approximately $170,000) in Farm to Feed, a Kenyan agritech enterprise specializing in digital supply chain integration and post-harvest food loss reduction.
The funding carries a 2X Challenge label, recognizing the company's founding team of three female entrepreneurs. Capital from the round will be deployed to strengthen Farm to Feed’s proprietary technology platform, enhance operational capabilities, expand its partner farmer network, and scale its value-added processing lines.
Addressing Supply Chain Fragmentation in East Africa
In Sub-Saharan Africa, approximately 50% of produce is lost before reaching end markets, primarily due to market fragmentation, inadequate demand forecasting, and limited input accessibility. Farm to Feed addresses these systemic inefficiencies through an end-to-end technology infrastructure that unifies enterprise resource planning (ERP), a farmer-facing mobile application, and a B2B e-commerce platform.
By coordinating sourcing, logistics, warehousing, and payments, the platform matches agricultural output directly with buyer demand. The company employs a full-harvest commercialization strategy through dedicated product verticals, including "Grade Rescue" and "Ready to Use", which create structured commercial avenues for imperfect or surplus crops while extending product shelf life.
Commercial Scaling and Operational Impact
Farm to Feed currently connects over 5,500 registered smallholder farmers to more than 160 institutional B2B buyers, including educational institutions, medical facilities, hotels, and industrial food processors.
The enterprise has sustained over 100% year-on-year growth for three consecutive years while maintaining a Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 92. According to company impact disclosures for 2025, participating farmers achieved an average 249% increase in farm-gate income alongside an 81% reduction in farm-level produce loss. The platform also accelerates payment cycles, delivering capital to farmers within days of harvest compared to traditional multi-week settlement periods.
