Yellow Card Acquires Brazilian virtual asset service provider GoMoney
Pan-African stablecoin payments infrastructure leader Yellow Card acquires Brazilian virtual asset service provider GoMoney, expanding its global footprint into Latin America's largest cryptocurrency market.
SAO PAULO — Yellow Card, Africa's leading stablecoin payments infrastructure provider, has completed the acquisition of GoMoney Sociedade Prestadora de Serviços de Ativos Virtuais Ltda. (GoMoney), a licensed virtual asset service provider (VASP) operating in Brazil. The transaction, executed in October 2026, marks Yellow Card's direct market entry into Latin America as part of its strategy to build interconnected global financial infrastructure.
GoMoney has formally filed an application with the Banco Central do Brasil (BCB) for full authorization to operate as a virtual asset service provider under Law No. 14,478/2022 and BCB Resolution No. 519/2025. GoMoney currently operates under Brazil's transitional regulatory framework while its application remains under review by the central bank.
Operational Footprint & Payment Rails Integration
The strategic acquisition integrates local payment rails and real-time settlement infrastructure across South America:
- Local Payment Integration: Adds local collections and disbursements in Brazilian reais (BRL), including direct integration with Brazil's instant payment network, Pix.
- Treasury & Liquidity Operations: Combines GoMoney's local BRL settlement capabilities with Yellow Card’s established stablecoin treasury and liquidity services across its existing markets in Africa and globally.
- Corporate Structure: GoMoney, founded in 2018, will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Yellow Card under the ongoing leadership of its founding executive team.
Market Expansion & Regulatory Momentum
The expansion leverages surging commercial demand for stablecoins across major emerging market corridors:
- Regional Market Scale: Brazil recorded $252.5 billion in cryptocurrency volume between July 2025 and June 2026, making it Latin America’s largest market. Stablecoin activity in Brazil grew by 495% during the 2024–2026 comparison period, driven by corporate cross-border payments and treasury management.
- Capital & Licensing Footprint: The acquisition follows Yellow Card's $40 million equity raise in August 2026, backed by strategic investors including Standard Chartered Bank and Sony, alongside recent regulatory licenses and registrations across Canada, Switzerland, Nigeria, Ghana, and Zimbabwe.
Executive Commentary

GoMoney has built a strong foundation in Brazil over the last eight years, and bringing our businesses together will allow us to deliver greater value to customers while accelerating our long-term ambitions."
— Chris Maurice, Co-Founder & CEO of Yellow Card
"We have spent the last eight years building a virtual asset service provider business in Brazil focused on using Stablecoins as a means of effecting cross-border payments, similar to what Yellow Card has been doing in Africa and globally over the same period. — Maurício Pires, Founder & CEO of GoMoney
