EASE Secures $9.5M Equity Investment from AAFC Group
Healthcare equipment-as-a-service provider EASE Holdings raises additional equity to accelerate pay-per-use technology deployments in South Africa and Ghana while assessing market entry into Morocco.
JOHANNESBURG — African healthcare infrastructure platform EASE Holdings BV has secured $9.5 million in additional equity funding from US-based emerging-market asset investor AAFC Group Inc.
Led by CEO Dr. Kanyinsola Oyeyinka, a Nigerian physician and former healthcare investment advisor at the NSIA: Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority, the African Asset Finance Company (AAFC Group Inc) spinoff will deploy the capital to eliminate high upfront equipment costs for African hospitals and diagnostics centers.
The equity allocation brings EASE Holdings BV's total equity backing to $24 million, positioning the firm to rapidly expand its installed footprint of AI-driven PET-CT scanners, MRIs, and surgical robotics across South Africa and Ghana, while laying the groundwork for market entry into Morocco.
Operational Footprint & Asset Financing Model
EASE operates a flexible asset-light procurement framework designed to eliminate high upfront capital expenditure barriers for healthcare providers:
- Operating Model: Delivers state-of-the-art medical equipment via all-in pay-per-use and managed-equipment-service contracts. The structure bundles routine maintenance, operational support, and technology upgrades into an operating expense (OpEx), shifting financial liabilities away from clinical providers.
- Target Modalities: Equipment categories include magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT),positron emission tomography (PET-CT) scanners, surgical robotics platforms, and linear accelerator radiotherapy systems.
- Active Deployments: Operational assets include surgical robotics units in KwaZulu-Natal and Mpumalanga; a PET-CT scanner in Rustenburg; an MRI scanner in Akwatia, Ghana; and high-volume CT scanners in Accra.
Growth Strategy & Regional Expansion
The business is scaling its commercial distribution footprint while structuring local banking partnerships:
- South Africa Growth Pipeline: Anticipates at least $20 million of new equipment installations across South Africa next year in partnership with major local commercial banks and international original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
- Corporate Governance: EASE South Africa is expanding its regional board and has retained executive search firm Mindcor-InterSearch to recruit a Managing Director to head domestic operations.
- International Pipeline: Evaluating secondary market expansion into Morocco alongside international entry into India and Malaysia.
Executive Commentary
"This investment marks an important step in expanding our healthcare infrastructure platform, which enables providers to deliver more diagnoses and treatments, while helping more patients access the care they need. We can now bring more high-value equipment to our customers and enable them to keep pace with AI and other technology advances."
— Dr. Kanyinsola Oyeyinka, CEO of EASE
"EASE is addressing a structural constraint: providers need access to increasingly sophisticated diagnostic and therapeutic technology, but the equity-to-debt ratios banks require make advanced medical equipment very expensive to own. As healthcare technology becomes increasingly AI-enabled, that challenge becomes more acute. EASE provides a solution that allows providers to keep pace."
— Frans van Schaik, CEO of AAFC Group Inc.
