DNI Deploys Over $115M To Expand Access To Connectivity, Digital Services And Mobile Technology Across South Africa
The digital infrastructure group channels over R2 billion into telecom assets, scaling high-speed fiber deployments, international eSIM connectivity, and mobile distribution across the region.
JOHANNESBURG — Digital Networks Investments (DNI) has officially announced a capital deployment exceeding R2 billion (approximately $115 million) into South African connectivity, digital services, and mobile distribution businesses.
The strategic expansion integrates KnowRoaming and Mission Mobile into the DNI ecosystem, following the group's recent acquisitions of Frogfoot, Vox Telecom, and Hypa.
Expanding the Digital and Mobile Ecosystem
The multi-million-dollar investment framework is structured to consolidate DNI's footprint across physical and digital telecommunications value chains:
- KnowRoaming: Extends DNI's distribution strength into eSIM technology and global connectivity, delivering digital roaming solutions across more than 200 countries and regions.
- Mission Mobile: Enhances mobile-led distribution and digital services, offering affordable smartphone and connectivity packages directly through mobile network operator (MNO) retail stores.
- Frogfoot Infrastructure: Accelerates high-speed fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) rollouts in underserved communities, scaling deployment from 80,000 to 360,000 connected homes annually.
Strengthening Wholesale Distribution and Financial Inclusion
Recognized in 2025 by all four local mobile networks as the top channel in South Africa's informal wholesale market, DNI leverages its physical SIM distribution network and fintech expertise to broaden digital participation.
The newly acquired entities bring established founder leadership and specialized domain expertise, aligning with DNI's long-term strategy to advance financial inclusion, expand regional connectivity rails, and enrich its overarching customer proposition.
